An Hour at the Railway Station

An Hour at the Railway Station रेल्वेस्थानकावर एक तास

I had gone to Dehradun to visit my aunt who was unwell. While returning home I had to take a train to Mumbai from Dehradun. I came to the railway station an hour before the departure of the train. My ticket was already booked and I was waiting on the platform for my train.

The railway station was very crowded. There was a long queue at the ticket counter. The porters were carrying luggage and families were waiting to meet their loved ones while some were saying goodbyes. There were all kind of people in the railway station. There were school children, who were going for a trek in the Himalayas, men, college students, families, and ladies with babies in their arms, beggars and railway officials.

One could see a lot of emotions in a railway station. Some people were chatting pleasantly with their friends. Some families were excited as a loved one was coming home after a long time. Some were sad to say goodbye. The group of school students was excited and thrilled to go trekking in the snow capped mountains of Himalayas Some men were grumbling because their train was late.

The air was filled with noises, sounds and smoke Several trains came and passengers were greeted with smiles and hugs and peals of laughter. Some were hugged goodbye and there were teary-eyed farewells. There were two bookstalls selling newspapers, magazines and novels. I bought a newspaper and novel to read on the train. There was a small restaurant where I had tea.

My train rolled in after almost an hour. It was right on time. I boarded the train and found my compartment. It was quite an experience to spend an hour at the railway station.
