आपला देश
India is my native land. It is a great country and one of the oldest civilizations in the world. India is known for its diversity in religions, cultures and philosophies. It is known for its spiritual outlook and acceptance of all cultures. The Himalayas are situated in the north of India. The highest mountain in the world, Mt. Everest, is a part of the Himalayan mountain range. The Himalayas are a source for many rivers such as Ganga, Brahmaputra and the Indus. The Thar Desert is situated in the western state of Rajasthan. Kanyakumari is the southernmost tip of the country. India has two coastlines one in the east and the other west. It is surrounded by Arabian Sea in the West and the Bay of Bengal in the East. The Indian Ocean is to the south of India. India is the seventh-largest country in the world and is densely populated. Most of the population of India lives in villages. Various communities such as Hindus, Christians, Parsis, Jews, Jains and Muslims are a part of India's population. India is well-known for its sculpture and architecture. Tourists from all over the world come to see the Taj Mahal, the temples of South India and the Ajanta and Ellora caves. India is the birthplace of dynamic and intellectual personalities such as Swami Vivekananda, the Buddha, Mahavir, Shivaji Maharaj, Mahatma Gandhi. India has the fourth-largest army in the world. It is a sovereign, secular and independent country. Many of the world's leading engineers, scientists and authors are Indians. India has always stood for equality and practised tolerance. I love my country and regard it as the best.
